Bridesmaid Dresses

Good morning today, we are talking all about bridesmaid dresses. I get this question all the time. Do you create bridesmaid dresses or do you just do wedding dresses? We do the entire wedding, not just the wedding dress, but the bridesmaids, maid of honor, mother of the bride, mother of the groom, flower girl, wedding guests, whoever else is going to your wedding, going to be in your wedding, wearing a dress. Bridesmaid dresses is a huge burning question that I get from so many of my clients. I get a lot of bridesmaid dresses in, so we're going to discuss about three different ways to have your bridesmaid dress done, let's get started.

The first one that we have to talk about, is custom, because that's the main thing that we do here and the first custom dress option I'm going to talk about is the infinity dress. The infinity dress is a more budget friendly dress. It is one that works well on all bodies. I have made for an 11 year old, to a plus size, all different shapes and sizes tall, short, whatever it may be. And they work really well! They have a circle skirt, so it drapes really well when it's worn and it just flows beautifully. If you know me, you know that I love a circle skirt very much so I love infinity dresses. They tie in all different ways. If you don't know what they are, you can see some options in our Shop Gowns section. They tie in all different ways and they're perfect for your bridesmaids because they can get some of their personality in, and still be cohesive altogether so that it looks nice for your wedding. You can get the same color. I believe that we have about 42 colors that you can choose from for your bridesmaid infinity dresses. They start off at $200 to $300 and that would include all your fabrics, labour and the minor alterations plus applicable taxes. So anything that doesn't go above and beyond, and then your fittings, that's all included.

You can have them short, you can have them long, you can have them ankle length, tee, length, whatever you want. And, uh, you can also add like broaches with them. They're really pretty. You can do so many things with them and, and you can wear them again. And they're super comfortable. I have one that I made for myself that's floral. So nice to where in the warmer seasons spring, summer and fall. So I really love it.

The next one we're going to talk about is complete custom. So this is where we design it completely for your bridesmaids, with a pattern and everything. To start you would send us a picture of what you would really love for your bridesmaids and what they have decided that they would love. We would then do a quote up for you and your quoting includes the same thing as the infinity dresses, because it's still custom. That would include your fabric, labor, minor alterations, as long as it doesn't go above and beyond and your fittings plus taxes.

These ones start at $325, depending on the style. The average cost of a custom bridesmaid dress is between $350 and $400. The good thing and an awesome thing about a fully custom dress is that it's completely made to the idea of what you're wanting. All your bridesmaids will be able to have the perfect fit for them. Size and body shape for every curve and every line.

The third and final way that you can have a bride bridesmaid dress done here, is alterations.

So you can get a dress from a boutique. You can get a dress from online. The online stores that I really like that I've worked with are JJ house and Azazie, those are the two main ones that I've worked with and the quality of the dresses so far has been really good. The price point is nice for a lot of the bridesmaids. I have had bridesmaids who have brought me so many dresses, that I've altered for them because they're in so many weddings, cause they're like the best friend forever with all the Brides in their lives, haha. They don't want to spend a ton of money on dresses because they're always in weddings and these two online stores work well for them.

I always recommend when you're buying a dress from a boutique or online to just remember. To add in a bit of a cost for alterations. It makes a big difference because then you'll know exactly what you're spending at least a rough amount, especially if you're not sure how much the alterations will cost. That's the perfect opportunity to reach out to a seamstress and get a quote to know exactly what you would be spending. I also like to tell you, before you order that sometimes you can purchase a dress at a boutique or online and then get alterations, and then it equals about the same amount as getting a custom dress from start to finish. As of right now our Bridesmaid alterations average cost is $200 to $350 which when added to your dress cost is roughly the same or more.

So if you are looking to have a custom dress, that's definitely the option that I would take if I realized that the budget I had is about the same as if you were going to buy a dress and then get it altered.

We do all kinds of alterations here, the most common alterations we do here for Bridesmaids are hemming, and then taking in with, or without boning and then we also do adjusting the slit. So a lot of the times, because dresses are made very long, the slit won't always sit right after hemming, sometimes the slit will like start at the knee and that can look a little bit funny proportion wise. So we just take it up a little. Sometimes a lot, depending on how much you want to show off your legs.

Those are the main things that we do here for bridesmaid dresses, infinity dresses, custom dresses, and then alterations. So, if you're looking for a bridesmaid dress don’t stress! We’re here to make all your dream dress visions come true!

I hope that you enjoyed this wedding Wednesday. It is so much fun for me to talk about bridesmaids dresses! Have a fabulous rest of your week, and we'll see you next Wednesday.

Your Desginer,
