Finding the Perfect Wedding dress for your body type

What do you love to wear?

You may be thinking, okay what does what kind of dress that I love wearing normally have to do with my wedding dress? SO here’s the thing, if you know what fits your body, empire waist, drop waist, fitted, flowing, etc. Then you will have a rough idea of a style that will work for your wedding day. Also, knowing your specific body type goes hand in hand with the idea of your dream dress. Every BODY is so different, that you would see a model who has a completely different body then you and love a dress but once it is on you, you realize your shape makes it look different. There is nothing wrong with this, but with custom I have found over the years, that I can adjust a gown to better fit your body instead of a cookie cutter style of dress that will end up making you feel uncomfortable.

Now I am sure that you have started creating boards and saving pictures of what you would love to wear on your wedding day. That is fabulous! Knowing the fabrics that you’re loving and the style makes it so much easier to narrow down what will make your heart sing when you try dresses on. This will then allow you to find the silhouette that will accentuate your assets and leave your less-loved characteristics out. With my help, I cut and fit a dress exactly to your shape. This means that depending on fabrics and weight lose you may only need one fitting and a final pickup. Also your alterations are INCLUDED in the price so you don’t have to worry about additional costs once you get your dress. How fantastic is that!

Now let’s talk silhouette and body type;

Petite Frame

You don’t want to wear something that you seem to be swimming in, this is mainly for us shorties out there, but if it is too big it can be overwhelming for your body.

A sheath or more fitted trumpet gown would be perfect. If you are wanting to go with a ball gown, a drop waist princess cut would work well because It will lengthen your torso and give you a bit more curve.

A plunging V-Neck with a sustainable strap, elongates that neck and draws the eye upward, which is where we want everyone to be looking anyways right?!

An empire waist style is lovely to give the illusion of long legs and flows really beautifully outward.

Simple fabric, appliques and beading that aren’t too overwhelming can be exceptional design details for you.

Curvy Frame (Hourglass)

Illusions can be your best friend (if that is what you’re looking for) or do you want a style that celebrates all your curves. then you don’t want to miss out on this!

As is for the petite women, the empire waist will give a lengthening effect pairing with a chiffon sleeved skirt, acting as a whimsical and delicate cover up.

A lace illusion styled neckline can be very slimming when paired with a cummerbund-style waistline.

Having an lace off-shoulder neckline, if you’re more narrow, can provide a beautiful long neck and show off the collar bone perfectly. Pair that with a sweetheart underlay and you’re golden. (This is one I have created several times)

Sheath can totally be the way go, creating a long and lean look while accentuating your curves at the same time. High necklines and slight trains for the win!

Accessories like a darker colour sash draws the eye in, creating a slimmer waistline.

Scoop necklines help you to avoid a strapless bra for those who have voluptuous cup size.

The dropped waist silhouette or basque waistline enhances the hourglass figure.

Long & Lean Frame (Athletic)

Most gowns were created with you in mind, as many models have a straight body type. Here are some types to give you some curves and options that not every bride can pull off like you can!

Sheath with it’s different styled necklines.

Contouring seams at the hips can create a curve for the eyes.

Show off those legs girl, with a slit at whatever length you desire, the higher the better ;)

High necklines and a full A-line skirt can balance your height while showcasing it.

Illusion necklines with trickling lace, leaving a hint of bare skin shows off your long beautiful neck.

Crop tops and skirts, yep that’s right you can do it!

Ballgowns are just right because they won’t overwhelm your tall figure.

Top Heavy (Busty)

If you have girl problems, and I mean “the girls” then this one is for you! You can reveal or conceal!

Illusion necklines paired with a sweet heart can be every bit as supportive as it is delicate and elegant.

The sweet heart with straps and a full skirt will balance your frame and keep those “girls” in check.

If you want to go strapless, you can with a straight across neckline as this actually minimizes your assets.

The square neckline is perfect because it is not too revealing and is super supportive.

You can still do a plunging V if you want to, go as deep or as high as you would like. The best part about custom is you can really choose how low you can go.

A draped cowl neck sits seamlessly over your bust allowing you to have more options with a more figure-hugging gown.

At the end of the day, try dresses on! I recommend this unless you know 100% the vision you have will be perfect for your body. I have had clients love one thing and then I need to make adjustments once we get to the first fitting because it does something to their figure they hate. The good thing is, I can change it, YAY! So ladies whatever your body type their is a dress out there for you, all you have to know is what fits you well in life, what you want and you’ll be set!

Looking for suggestions let me know, I’d be happy to discuss options that would fit you seamlessly :)

I hope this inspires you!

5 Micro Wedding Dresses

The year 2020 will always be the year of postponements, cancelations and futures put on hold. This year we are still left in a limbo kind of style where weddings are postponed or reimagined completely in order to make the commitment to a significant other. The Micro Wedding - a small size low-key casual mood with usually 25-50 guests, it is an easy-breezy ceremony which can open styles up to a wide variety.

An off-shoulder silhouette is incredibly timeless; compliment this with some delicate earrings and bracelets. This romantic design with a shorter hemline and peek-a-boo slits, feels like micro wedding heaven.

SpringStyledShoot-46.jpg

Is your heart set on a lace dress? Make it this one. This infinity style overlay is the whimsical aspect that can have those micro wedding guests swooning. You can wear this over a short Audrey inspired dress or even a sheath.

IMG_4848.JPG

A two in one style can give you that flowing romantic feel, the kind of micro wedding dress that can seamlessly translated from ceremony to dance floor, even if that just happens to be in your own home.

twoinone.jpg

Elegance is always a factor that a bride wants on her wedding day, this can still be everything in a micro wedding. A stunning wedding dress with long sleeves and a scalped lace plunging neckline and a plain flowing skirt with or sans train. Capturing all the delicacy and grace.

051A4530.jpg

Short and trendy is always a great fit for a stylish bride and when it comes to a micro wedding this is excellent. Again you can transition from ceremony to dance floor.

70s.jpg

These 5 styles are the absolute ultimate for micro weddings and work for a plethora of styles and personalities when it comes to any couples wedding day. Whether you need to scale down or slightly postpone, as the story goes these days LOVE is not cancelled and wedding can be transformed into something completely perfect just for you.

Today's Bride Fall Photo Shoot

I have been reminiscing of all the styled photo shoots I was a part of back in 2019 and most of them we’re featured. This one though still makes my heart sing a little louder because it was my first published in a Magazine. It definitely was a pinch me kind of moment when Beth from Beth Jacob Events messaged and gave me the news. We do these shoots to give you inspiration, to continue our creative work and to showcase what we have to offer. Working together, networking and making magic, oh my is it beautiful! So having one of these not just on an amazing blog like Today’s Bride but in their magazine is still like living a dream. I was gifted an entire box of them and have been giving them out to my brides ever since.

Boho is still a BIG deal on the wedding theme roster so this shoot will be completely inspiring for you. The fresh and bold colours can be spring, summer or fall and Willow Springs Winery is such a stunning place. The weeping willows are so whimsical and dreamy so what better place then here to have an incredible, unforgettable day. I am in love with every detail of this shoot, those peach place card holders are brilliant and that Pink Suit jacket is perfect!

When making your choices decide whether you want something fresh and new or simple and elegant. Taking looks from other decades and making them modern is a fun way to create something original for your wedding day. I also suggest having a planner throughout the process or just for day of, you can often find that they will offer a plan that works well for you to relieve some of the stress. Planning a wedding should be fun, let it be!

Balls Falls Making Wedding Dreams Come True

Jenn & Jules

When I first met with Jenn we were both so excited to get started on this custom journey. One wedding dress, two bridesmaids and two flower girls. Working with Jenn was so lovely, she was super laid back and allowed me to design her dress vision with ease. I found the most perfect flowered lace which over layed the bodice and created the perfect key hole back. While the rest was the over lay of beautiful turquoise flower girl dresses. Everything came together perfectly, all the dresses fit well and each of the ladies had a gorgeous jeweled belt to give them that much needed something extra special. I spoke to Jenn a few months later when she had her photos sent to me and here is her story from meeting to happily ever after.

How did you two meet?

We first met in the summer of 2017.  His dad and him were doing roof work on a neighbours house when they noticed there was a hole in my roof.  One day, his dad knocks on my door to show me what they found and explained how it could easily be fixed.  I hired them to do the work, which they did - and then some.  While on the roof, they noticed that my fence gate didn't work well, so they fixed that as well and cleaned out some of the gutters.  We also got to talking about other possible work that needed to be done (isn't home ownership grand?!).  They figured my roof had another year or two before it would need replacing and I already knew my windows were in rough shape, so when the next summer rolled around, they stopped by and we discussed redoing the roof as well as the windows.  I shopped around, but they had impressed me so much with their past work, that I hired them to do the work.  Jules and I did end up talking a few times, while he was working.  It wasn't until they were closed to finishing up the windows that he asked me out for dinner.  I said "sure", after all, I had promised myself not to turn down an opportunity to a) make a new friend and to b) get out of the house.  You see, I had been married before, but my husband has passed away suddenly in the spring of 2017.  The dinner went really well.  He brought his son, who was 10 at the time, and we had a wonderful time.  Of course, at the end of the night, I had a feeling I would be seeing more of the two of them!

How did he/she propose?

We had been trying to get together with Jules' dad, step-mom and younger sister and brother for a while, but schedules being what they are, previous attempts at making plans never seemed to work out.  Jules had arranged for us to all go out to dinner together on a Tuesday evening, to the same restaurant where we had our first date.  I didn't have a clue, until he walks around the table and gets down on one knee.  He had his words planned out, but I think he might have been a tad bit nervous.  He at least got the words to say "Will you marry me?".  The few times when he mentioned marriage, I had always said that my response to that very question would be "Hmmm, let me think about it.", but I'm guessing I too was a little caught off guard, because I think I might have said yes before he could finish the question!

What did you envision your wedding being prior to planning?

Honestly, we first thought of eloping.  Nothing fancy, just Jules, Riley and myself.  Then he started realizing that never having been married before, he wanted his family there.  So if his family would attend, then mine would too, then cousins, aunts and uncles, good friends...and then we were talking a full-on wedding.  Once we came to that decision and a rough estimate on the number of people, we started talking details.  It soon became quite clear that both of us were envisioning the same thing.  Something relaxed and rustic.

What was your color palette and your style vision?

So many colours to chose from!  At first, my plan might have been more mardi gras...purple, turquoise/teal, lime green and silver.  That was quickly narrowed down to turquoise/teal and silver/grey.

What unique elements or DIY details did you include?

I Have always enjoyed crafting and my husband is extremely handy, so with the two of us working on a variety of projects, we accomplished a lot of DIY details for our wedding.  Started off with our save the date cards (a note card with a wooden pencil with a hand painted tag with our names and the date), our invitations, the seating chart, the ceremony programs, the table scapes, the flower girls floral balls, the jam used as the Thank You gifts for our guests, as well as the decorating of the jam jars.

What was your favorite moment?

Our first look.  I had gotten a glimpse or two of him as I was walking from the car to the bridal suite, and I'm sure he caught a glimpse of me too.  But the first time you lay eyes on your betrothed a few moments before you say "I Do" is certainly special!

Everything was exactly how we wanted it.  The moment he asked me to marry him, I knew that I wasn't looking for your traditional wedding gown, but finding what I initially had in my head was proving difficult and frustrating.  When I happened to message A.M.E.G. Designs with my ideas,  Amanda quickly messaged me to say anything was possible.  She made the entire process of designing and creating a one of a kind dress..which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE...a blast.  Choosing my flowers was pretty easy.  The deep purple colour of the moon vista carnation was a must, then we combined it with some white peonies, white wax flowers, and greenery.  I think one of my husband's favourite things was the jam.  He lead the jam making crew, as he used his late grandmother's recipe to make the strawberry, cherries and blueberry jam.  This was a close second to the cake I surprised him with.  We had agreed to just have donuts, which we had, but this cake was an ode to his favourite pastime... fishing.  The cake was created using some of the pictures I had captured of a small family vacation where he caught two very nice sized large mouth bass.  The cake was a replica of a large mouth bass jumping.  Spectacular.

We had gorgeous weather, which was one of my main worries leading up to the day.  But the sun was out, and so were our closest family and friends.  We had an absolutely fabulous time.  There isn’t a single thing I would change...everything was perfect.

What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be?

Everyone says enjoy the day and don't sweat the small stuff.  Its soooooooo true.  Relax and enjoy because the day will FLY by otherwise.  Also....delegate, delegate,  delegate!   Yes,  it's  your day........but that doesn’t mean you have to do everything yourself.  Have a plan, and have people you can rely on to accomplish the tasks you need done of the day or the days leading up to your wedding.  This is crucial and will free up your time....to just enjoy what will be the happiest and most special days of your life.

Click through and see their magical day unfold!

I love hearing the whole story right up to the reception! I, and a few other vendors never get to see the wedding day until the photos. Thank you Jenn this was a treat for sure :)

Spencer's at the Waterfront || A wedding and a girl in her Polka Dot Dress

I am so thrilled when my brides send me loads of their beautiful photos. Photographers are definitely one of my favourite wedding vendors. They get to capture every breath taking moment when everything comes together and the couple's can finally just celebrate their love and all the hard work that goes into planning a wedding. It's really just like a big exhale after the "I will take yous". To see my brides feeling wonderful and looking exactly how they wanted to look is just the most wonderful thing. They can focus on all the love to be shared that day in a dress that was cut and sewn to perfectly fit them. It's really a phenomenal thing to get these captures, I'm always in awe.

This one bride was no exception, working with Natasha was such a pleasure. She is one of the sweetest and kindest people I have ever met. She knew exactly what she wanted from the start only sending me the front and back of a 1950s polkadot wedding dress she had found on Pinterest. I was ecstatic because I love doing different era pieces! Together with her fabulous mother, we sat down and agreed to get started. It is a huge goal of mine to find the best fabrics and create as close as I can to the vision the bride has. That being said I searched high and low, through every fabric store I knew just to find the right polkadot fabric. To no avail it was no where to be found, but you can't say I ever give up. I know no matter what I'm looking for, I find the exact one or better. I hit Etsy and there it was, the perfect polkadot fabric to fulfill her dress dreams. Natashas wedding was in 2018 but I know she still loves and adores the dress I created for her. If I were to message her now she would tell me the same.

Best day ever!

“My wedding dress was absolutely perfect. Amanda took the time to really understand what I was looking for and what I got was beyond my expectations! She is professional, communicates effectively and has the biggest heart -she truly created a beautiful wedding dress that I couldn't have imagined. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an amazing designer.”

The wedding looked gorgeous, from the photos she sent me by the very talented Mike Rees, you are in for a serious treat.

I hope this has inspired you to look into custom dresses, you can have everything you’ve ever dreamed of.

Wedding Bouquets

I have done a lot of wedding shoots creating stunning dresses to coincide with other talented wedding vendors. One thing you always notice in these shoots. are the beautiful floral arrangements and bouquets. I really have been wanting to share some gorgeous inspiration and options with you so you can find something you love and maybe even have a florist close to home that you had no idea existed.

Simple, elegant and green, is sometimes the best way to go. You can do a really light and airy look and have a really sweet colour like the pinks in these captures to create a soft and lovely wedding theme. (For more from this shoot)

Floral Designer - Flwr Club

Again very soft and light but with a whimsical type of theme, very flowing and care free. This bouquet is one that jumps out at you in the most beautiful way. I love the combinations used here and then the subtleties used for the cake and her hair are the perfect match up.

Floral Designer - Raindrops on Roses (she’s actually one of my faves and I have worked with Chi several times, she creates that most fantastic floral designs.)

This is so BOHO I love these flowers, again very carefree and simple with just the right amount of everything, the way it all just comes together perfectly for these shoots on the day of is amazing. It is literally like planning a wedding, minus the guests and giant bill haha, in only a few months.

Floral Designer - Rain Drops on Roses

This one gives a few different options and totally for spring/summer. When we did this shoot there was a snow storm the night before and it was absolutely freezing outside, these floral definitely had us dreaming of warmer weather. The floor arrangement was tall and perfect for your alter, a hanging bouquet for a more dramatic feel and one that was so bright and sunny I could feel the sun, while the last was soft and just the ultimate summer loving kind of bouquet.

Floral Designer - Hilary Adele Floral Design

Omgoodness this shoot smelt incredible let me tell you, all the fresh fruit and florals I was in heaven. I love the bright and gorgeous colours used for this one. I actually had a dress that had a pink skirt, so gorgeous. I can’t show you too much of this one because we are waiting to be featured, BUT I had to share these little snippets of a fabulous array of colours (heart eyes all day!)

Floral Designer - @mariakarimfloristry

Slowly inching through summer and transitioning into fall. This floral crown was perfect for this 1970’s shoot taking from the gorgeous bouquet that had orange Gerbera daisies that are just my dream flower, they’re so pretty and soft. These again can be paired with many different styles of weddings, outdoor and boho come to mind. I just think if you want a flower crown then wear one!

Floral Designer - Rain Drops on Roses (can you tell I love her!)

Okay here comes fall and such stunning rich colours, each designed beautifully by the amazing Rain drops on Roses. I just love working with her because I know her work is always going to be absolutely flawless. That floral crown was definitely a perfect piece for this elopement wedding shoot but would one hundred percent be a wonderful piece for a destination wedding. That’s a little how I see this shoot, like a destination wedding, with the skirt that is removable on that gown.

Another Bohemian Beauty, these deep delicious colours scream fall, the burgundies, oranges, greens and pops of blue are everything. I was not able to be at the shoot but the captures made that day have me swooning for fall and comfy clothes (I love everything fall - little known fact about me!) - See more here!

Floral Designer - Labelle Fleur Design

Last but not least on this epic floral journey, some that are made with fabric, fake flowers and paper! The stunning, handmade floral fabric bouquet is one of my favourites for sure. Marie is so talented at what she does, making hair bows and clips. I asked her if she could create this and she blew me away. I can’t find the girl that made the paper flowers for me but a bouquet with these created by someone who is really good, could do something really stunning for you. The fake flowers bouquet was made by yours truly for a shoot I did with the second wedding dress I ever made, yes it was pink! (Check the link to see more!)

Fabric Bouquet - Bow Appetit by Marie

So get creative girl, there are so many options out there, I’d love for this to help you to narrow down your search.

I hope this inspires you!

The Estates of Sunny Brook

McLean House

McLean House

From the moment I drove up the road and came upon this stunning old house I knew this shoot was going to be phenomenal. Fun fact about me, I'm in love with architecture. If it's different, old or at all artistic I'm beaming at the sight. The McLean House, one of the Estates of Sunny Brook, is honestly the perfect place for an elegant wedding.  With stunning grounds to enjoy and take your photos (engagement or wedding), then to venture inside where your met by various spaces to explore. Huge windows that take in all that glorious light and old wood floors that are to die for. Upstairs there is a Bridal dressing suite that is damaskly what your dreaming of (you see what I did there ;)), including a Vanity table with a mirror and a jaw dropping tub in the bathroom that you can sit down in!

Then enter into the sweetest area to marry the love of your life that can totally be decorated in any way you could dream up. From the winding staircase to a large room to have a reception while the pianist plays, this place is the ultimate dream. I 100% had to list this as one of my featured wedding venues on my website.

The captures you're about to see are breathtaking, by an immensely talented group of wedding vendors. All will be listed below you need to check them out!

Dress Inspiration

Have you ever been invited to a wedding and immediately started thinking 'what am I going to wear?'.

Short, long, lace, floral, there are so many options as if you were the one getting married. It can be overwhelming but if you first start thinking of the silhouette that you love wearing and go from there is so much easier.

Make sure you know all the colours in the wedding and DO NOT wear those. In a mixture of floral or pattern is fine, but the Bride wants her lady's and colours to stand out, so let her have that for sure. Know if it's black tie or more semi-formal, that also can tell you how fancy to be when choosing a super say beaded dress opposed to a more say 'Sunday best' dress.

There are still loads of options and the pictures attached will show you dresses for the time of year, whether it be Spring/Summer or Fall/Winter. And of course you don’t have to wear a dress (I am biased because I make them lol :P) if you’re a total pants kinda girl, you have so many pieces to choose from as well. Like rompers (pants or shorts), gorgeous long wide leg pants with a beautiful sequined top and oh so much more!

The ideas are endless girl and I want you to have fun because you’re going to have a ton of it at that wedding so why not dress the part. Especially if you don’t get out very often. HA listen I totally understand and I, myself can’t wait to go to my brothers wedding on July 13th and dance the night away while celebrating our two families uniting. It’s going to be a total blast and guess what I did, I took the dress that I made for my baby shower altered it to fit me, while changing it up a little bit, now its absolutely perfect! I can’t wait to show you all, I will definitely be posting on all the socials for you to see :)

Check out some of these Spring/Summer looks accessorized by Stella & Dot. This line came out in 2017 and was perfectly floral in every way.

Now here are some Fall/Winter inspiration, created with fabulous fabrics of gold and navy, plus fun Holiday greens and beautiful embroidered laces! (Flower Hairpiece available SHOP NOW)

There you have it some beautiful pieces that would be perfect for any wedding Guest! Just follow the tips above, have fun and accessorize with a small subtle statement or a dramatically fabulous one. You can do no wrong here girl! (Tag @yourdesigneramandagarrett on Instagram in the outfits you choose, I would love to see!)

I hope this has inspired you!

Wedding Party Gifts

CHEERS, TO YOUR LADIES! Celebrating your ladies of awesomeness for everything they do to help you have the best day you deserve, is sooooo important! Dedicating time and energy that they have given to you because you're loved so much... So right now you can get some beautiful custom pieces that are the sweetest keepsakes.

I helped my sister plan her wedding, I know everything that goes into it. Time, energy, money and love. Planning and executing every party, outing, up to the very last detail on the day. Sure you can have a planner but your ladies still do quite a bit. Remember to treat these wonderful women you chose with so much love and respect, they didn’t have to say yes they wanted to!

Here’s a beautiful photo shoot of a bride giving her Maid of Honor a box with some treasured keepsakes. You can see the love and happiness they have for one another and it is so wonderful. Her Maid of Honor then surprised her with a little custom made box of her own because the Bride also deserves to be celebrated. I think that is one of my favourite things about weddings, you end up honoring so many people in your life and showing so much love to them.

Okay, who else is excited for spring weather? Do you have a spring wedding coming up? With some many beautiful flowers and dresses starting to pop up every where, I thought it was the perfect time to share this awesome Spring Wedding Shoot.

I really love simple, yet elegant pieces. Those are the dresses I create, in the addition of accessories that give a little something extra. Styles can be so plain, but add a little lace and some creativity you’ve got yourself the perfect dress you’ve been searching for. Officially I have fallen in love with pick-ups in the skirts fabric and excited to show off this new dress! The headpieces are Grecian style with laurel leaves, pearl beads and swarovski stones (silver crown only). The gold belt is a simple criss cross with inset jewels attached to a satin off-white ribbon. Each of the wide ribbon belts are appliques, carefully attached which can be tied in a bow or sewn onto your wedding dress.

This shoot was shot at Studio by House in Mississauga. A perfect place with different set ups to capture all the fabulous concepts we each created for this day. I think it would also be a great if you wanted to get pictures of you and your man or you and your ladies done. There are some great shots you’re about to see, I hope you’re inspired!

Allowing you to experiment with a non traditional imagination, mainly off white laces, tied knots and jewelry for your, head, hands and feet. The gorgeous photos you’re about to see are a collaboration of all things bohemian created by some amazing designers and photographers. This style has really transformed what your dream wedding may look like. The images below are just a few of my favourites with so much beauty involved.

For more inspiration from this shoot, it was featured on Elegant Wedding Magazines Blog, Strictly Weddings Blog, Let’s Bee Together, and Lovely Day Journal.

Featured Venue

Now the venue for this shoot was unlike most, the Oakview Terrace Reception Centre, a hidden gem in Richmond Hill. With so many diverse areas to take your wedding pictures, for the ceremony and your reception can be indoors or outdoors. Any season is perfect for this venue and the views from the reception hall are incredible. Inside is not a large space, so if you’re looking to have 200 people most likely won’t be happening here BUT if you’re having something smaller it is idyllic. I did a small wedding show there and the venue itself is so spectacular, the food was delicious and the owners are kind. OH there is even a chapel that has beautiful wood details and can be paired with so many different wedding styles. I would totally recommend this fabulous venue!

The Millcroft Inn and Spa

Having a birthday in January is typically freezing! My love and I went to The Millcroft Inn and Spa in January for some much needed R n' R. It was absolutely beautiful! We had a incredible couples massage with the nicest massage therapists and then did the waters, sauna, pool and steam room. Let me tell you my skin was so soft after! So there are four pools, one in which is freezing (great for your circulation), my guy went in it four times. Haha he crazy! I went in to my waist and then got the EFF out of there. All in all it was fantastic and we plan to make in a yearly if not twice a year thing.💗

Do they do weddings there you may be asking? Uhm, HECK YES! Even my main squeeze thought it would be an amazing place for a wedding. There are several areas to have a private intimate ceremony, a gorgeous gazebo or right beside a waterfall (yes PLEASE!) It was absolutely beautiful! If you don’t know about this little gem go ahead and take a gander at some of our pictures from the day but also at their website. I promise you won’t be disappointed and it’s only about 40 minutes from Mississauga.

Enjoy some time with your man or your ladies! It’s totally worth it!

A Pink Wedding Dress

This was the second wedding dress that I ever made and how much FUN! This two in one twirling ruffle and cocktail style was perfect for this bride. AS I tell a lot of my brides with custom you can do anything and this shows you that 100%! She wore this one for her at home wedding from city hall to love with family. It was such a pleasure to be apart of this because I’ve known Meghan for such a long time and for her to help support my beginning is amazing! You can see in these fantastic shots shes absolutely stunning.

Blue Lace Dress

This dress was so lovely to create, from finding the fabric to piecing it together. I loved every minute of it. The lace overlay is gorgeous and the sleeves give it an elegance you just can not deny. To be worn for two weddings, my client was so pleased with the outcome, she had to put it on again when she got home from picking it up. I am so happy to help her illuminate the room with her presence in this beautiful piece.

Dresses should be made to be versatile as often as possible. I believe that with this one you can dress it up or down and wear it all throughout the year.

Every time you wear a dress it should help you to feel radiant and free. Free to be exactly yourself and comfortable throughout your entire day or event. I know what it feels like to be uncomfortable in your own skin and it helps so much to wear a piece of clothing that helps dissolve those feelings. Enter Moi! I can make sure that your dream dress is the perfect fit for your frame and vision.

Elopement

At the end of last summer, I did an amazing collaboration with quite a few talented ladies. This Fall elopement shoot was incredible. We just got to the location just after a storm passed at 8am, it was a bit chilly that morning and very windy. But as we all arrived and got every thing set up, Models dressed and camera ready. It got warm, blue skies appeared and the sun created such great light peaking through the woods.

Claireville Conservation in Brampton, Ontario is like a dream. Especially for a photo shoot, we had several landscapes to choose. From rolling Hills to a rocky road and even into the woods, no wonder we all had such a fabulous day!

The couple were gorgeous and really so in love, which truly takes your breath away with such intimate moments. I was lucky to be apart of something so very special. If eloping were just like this, I think more couples would do it ;).

Creating this dress was really wonderful, from the first designs to the day of the shoot. It is romantic and flowing plus a little flirty underneath the beautiful veil like removable skirt. I love the way the wind carries and fills it up in some of the gorgeous pictures by Roxana Martinez Photography.

I hope this inspires you and fills you with so much joy!

Do you plan to have two dresses for your Wedding Day but it’s adding up to be too much for your Budget? A removable skirt may be the perfect option for you. Beautiful and elegant for down the isle and then a reveal for the reception and ready to dance the nice away. Check out the fun and flirty blog post of the amazing pink Wedding Dress that goes from twirly to cocktail hour. Boho Wedding

Boho Wedding

Last spring I created a simply elegant bohemian wedding dress for a Spring Photoshoot with Michelle Liane Photography. My favourite thing about these collaboration shoots, is that I am given a rough idea and can run with it. Being creative is one of the best things life can offer, the joy I feel when it all comes together is just the greatest thing! Working with so many other amazing creatives is so worth while. You will see that the beauty that comes from each of us illuminates through the moments that were captured in the shoot.

This couple was real, completely and totally in love and it shows. Little do you know the sweet nothings being whispered were pretty silly jokes which made her laugh so incredibly true. I know that my guy would be the same way, silly and trying to make me laugh, so people aren’t super lovey dovey and that’s okay! I think even on a wedding day being silly is one of the reasons she has chosen to be with him or vise versa. These captures are stunning and I am so happy that even though I was 7 months pregnant at the time I could totally be apart of it. You wouldn’t know that there were a million mosquitos and it rained basically the whole time, HA!

Wedding Accessories

A few years ago now, I had the amazing opportunity to work with such a wonderful bride. Her dress needed some alterations and she wanted to add some accessories that made her feel so incredible on her wedding day. She had been nervous and had some doubts about the dress before the alterations. When your body changes during and after pregnancy, it can be hard not to worry about how clothes look on you now compared to what that used to be. Let me tell you though, my biggest goal is to help you look and FEEL absolutely beautiful inside and out. After altering and adding a fabulous sash to her dress, as well as, making a hair piece to complete the ensemble. She was absolutely stunning!

There are times where I end up doing alterations for other members of the bridal party and for this one I altered the sister of the grooms dress who was also a Bridesmaid. I love so much when I can be apart of making more than just the Bride happy. When every women I provide my services for can dance the night away at the wedding too! Take a look at how wonderful and happy both Bride and Groom were on the special day. You can also peek at the Bridesmaid dresses they were really stunning as well. Ahh, don’t you love reminiscing about the things that just turn out so well!

Summer Wedding in Caledon

I created a dress for a rustic stylized wedding shoot. A great collaboration of local businesses coming together thanks to Michelle Liane, an amazing photographer that brought her vision alive with through local businesses. The shoot was fantastic, set in Caledon, ON, she used the elements of the earth, and with the help of the wind shot some beautifully breath taking pictures. From the moment this dress was together, I fell in love! Every time I walked into my living room and saw it, this rush of excitement went through my veins. From start to finish this was a fun, whimsical piece to create. Thank you so much Michelle Liane Photography for including me in this fabulous experience.  I am so proud to have been apart of this and so excited that we were featured on The Bride Link blog.

However I love their little venue, super intimate and would be the perfect setting for a small wedding. It could even still be amazingly rustic if you wanted it to be. The Secret Garden - Rhododendron Garden in Port Credit

I love my collaboration shoots! It's great to be able to get a team of incredible creatives together and bring to life moments like these. THIS dress was so much fun to create. From finding this perfect lace, which challenged me because I had never worked with it before. It had quite a stretch to it and with the beautiful lines it has, patience and a good eye really needed to be used for this one. I wanted to do a 1970's piece because I think it is so wonderful to create from different eras, so be prepared to see some other staple pieces from specific times. The sleeves, neckline and hemline make this dress exactly what it is meant to be, timeless. Take a gander at what our amazing team did together and with only 15 minutes of light on the day of the shoot.

The 1970's look for weddings is very on trend, from the dresses to the floral headpieces. It could be the simplistic look you've been searching for. There are several styles that would work for this look, the high neck and wide sleeves are just one of the many options. Mostly making one a kind and your very own, you could have an almost peasant style that is off shoulder and high lights your more playful side. Lace, lace and more lace, a long train of lace, with unlined lace sleeves, low v-back and high neckline would be on the more elegant side if that is the look you're going for.

Having a custom dress created from your vision and brought to reality can be the best possible decision you have ever made. The best part is it can be anything you want, from any era past or present and even a mixture to make it fun and modern.

If you're considering having a custom dress and/or accessory for your special day, send an email my way. It would be my pleasure to make all your dress & accessory dreams come true!
